WASHINGTON — Howard University’s Board of Trustees and President H. Patrick Swygert hosted a reception in honor of three newly appointed presidents of area universities late last month. University of the District of Columbia President William L. Pollard and University of Maryland Eastern Shore President Thelma B. Thompson assumed their positions July 1, and Bowie State University President Calvin W. Lowe has been at the helm of the Maryland-based institution since May 2000.
