Where can I find a list of the seven deadly sins? Are they in the Bible, or not?
The seven deadly sins are pride, envy, sloth, lust, greed, gluttony and anger. They are called ‘deadly’ because, if committed and LEFT UNREPENTED before death, they threaten our salvation and eternal life. These seven sins lead to all other forms of sin man commits. In one form or another they are all mentioned in Scripture. Outlined below is a brief description of each of the sins and where you might find them in Scripture. Pride is the sin in which one gives credit to oneself or to his accomplishments that is due to God alone. (Job 36:9; Psalm 59:13; Proverbs 16:18; Mark 7:22) Envy is contempt for the good in another’s life/character because it threatens one’s own personal glory. (Mark 7:22; Matthew 27:18; Romans 1:29; Galatians 5:21) Sloth is the lack of desire for spiritual growth in one’s own life.
