Where can I find philanthropic funding for training youth in agroecology?
The Agronomic Initiative, recently created to focus on teaching, mentoring/coaching youth to understand and gain experience in natural farming practices, marketing foods locally, health connections, and ecological impact. These youth would be equipped to begin their own businesses in food and farm related fields. The Michigan Charter Foundation would act as feduciary, and the first site will be adjacent to a charter school with over half of it’s student body from inner-city Flint, MI. Flint needs opportunities for youth to engage in positive learning experiences and launch careers.
