We’re talking about DTP = desktop publishing here. DTP software focuses more on stunning layouts than word processors. In many cases you’d write the texts with Word or OO.o Writer, edit the pics with Photoshop or GIMP, and then put it all together with DTP software. One up-and-coming free and open-source DTP software is Scribus. Personally I’m also using a free version of PagePlus which came on a magazine DVD. Professional DTP software can be VERY expensive and complex. Still popular are Quark Xpress and FrameMaker, but the current big boy on the market is Adobe InDesign. I’d give Scribus a shot. Invest the money you save on acquiring the program into a good manual. Good luck.
