Where Can I Get Instructions for Making a Hardanger Fiddle?
The book (How) We Build Hardanger Fiddles, translated by Eldon Ellingson from Vi byggjer hardingfele by Sverre Sandvik, is probably the best reference. It includes various useful patterns and diagrams. The actual building techniques are, of course, mostly the same as for making a violin. The Sandvik book includes some information about carving the head of the instrument. There are no Hardanger fiddle kits available.
