Where did Martins recliner come from?
top Martin’s recliner has been the beloved eyesore of Frasier’s apartment since the first episode. Set decorators found it to be the most challenging addition to the set, they just couldn’t find a chair offensive enough. They finally resorted to cutting and matching fabric swatches for a BarcaLounger (see also La-Z-Boy) and aging the chair with paint and duct tape. In the Season 9 episode, Bla-Z-Boy the recliner meets its demise in a series of hilarious accidents. The chair that replaces it is said to be a custom made duplicate, commissioned by Frasier for his father. In reality, the recliner is the original piece seen throughout the show’s history.
