Where did the ritual of hanging a stocking on Christmas originate?
Being curious, I Googled “Christmas Stocking,” and found several legends from different countries where Christmas is celebrated. One tells of a nobleman who fell on hard times after his beloved wife passed away. His three young daughters were left poor and without dowries until St. Nicholas decided to help. He passed the family’s home on horseback and tossed three small pouches of gold coins down the chimney.
