Where did the tradition of giving gifts at Christmas start?
The custom of giving Christmas gifts has its roots in the first Christmas, when the Wise Men brought gifts to the newborn Jesus. Today’s frenzy of holiday shopping evolved from lore from many cultures – even different religions. Two dates, two years…should the amount of time you’ve been together affect the kind of gift you buy? A gift of jewelry after two dates is almost certain to overwhelm the girl you’re seeing. More than expressing generosity, it says “I need to impress whoever I’m with”. Hold off on a purchase of jewelry until your relationship has had time to grow. Instead, try flowers…or a special night out. There are traditional “guidelines” for wedding anniversaries. But a good rule of thumb when it comes to any gift for that special woman is to choose something she’ll love. You don’t need to go overboard pricewise to impress her, but it’s important to feel confident about quality.
