Where do I look for the Canadian Real Estate market statistics?

Two good places to look are the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) – they issue all kinds of reports on housing activity in Canada: http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/index.cfm, and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), essentially the national real estate agent`s association: http://www.crea.ca/. The CMHC will give you a better overview on things like new houses built, mortgages, etc., where the CREA will provide statistics on housing prices, sales by region, etc. Keep in mind the CREA statistics do not take into account sales done without the brokerage of a real estate agent , i.e., `for sale by owner` – which can skew the numbers by a significant percentage.
