Komodo dragons live on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and Gili Motang. Komodo National Park, founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon, includes all of these islands except Flores. The total range of their natural habitat is less than 500 square miles.
