Where do the tents and things go?
To charities that need them, to be used in a range of projects. Global Hand is a matching service helping businesses to partner with NGOs (non-governmental organisations). Before the festivals, we ask NGOs if they can use camping gear. If they say yes, we collect it. After Reading and Leeds 2006, we sent the tents to Ukraine, Botswana and Sri Lanka. They were used at summer camps and a day centre, by street children, orphans and children who live in impoverished conditions, and some went to an AIDS centre. Camping equipment donated in 2007 will go to various projects, including children’s camps and humanitarian work, such as health programmes. The Scout Association will also benefit, and Scout groups will be helping us process the tents.
