Where do the worlds best strawberries come from?
It depends where you live. Generally the best strawberries are grown the most locally to where you live. Whilst doubtless Californian strawberries are delicious to those who live in California, by the time they’ve been treated with preservatives and been transported by boat or plane to Europe they end up- well- kind of tasteless. There’s a strawberry lovers culture in Britain which is of the opinion that British strawberries (specifically Kent strawberries) are so different in flavour from foreign ones, that they may as well be a different fruit. They tend to taste sweeter, more full of flavour and are usually a healthier red colour. Certainly there would be uproar if the strawberry sellers at Wimbledon started to stock strawberries shipped in from anywhere else.
