September High Hunt – Pasayten Wilderness Go north from Winthrop on the East Chewuch Rd. for about 8 miles. Turn left onto the Eight-Mile Rd and travel past four Forest Service campgrounds (Flat..Nice…Ruffled Grouse…Honeymoon, in that order). Stay on this road until you arrive at the obvious public trailhead. October General Hunt – Sawtooth Mountains We meet you at Crater Creek Trailhead. About half way between Pateros & Twisp on hwy 153, turn onto Gold Creek Rd and follow the main road until pavement end. Continue straight onto the gravel for 2 miles, take left on FS RD 300. Remain on this road for approx. 3 miles and you will see a wooden arch with metal gates on the left. Enter here.
