WHERE DOES THE AGE BREAKDOWN COME FROM?
Where the breakdown of the British population by age is provided, this data comes from the respective national statistical offices, in other words from census data or annual population surveys, which range in date from 1999 to 2006. It should be noted that the figures for some countries are based on small sample sizes. All the age data refers to UK-born, except for Estonia, Portugal, Greece, France and Japan when it refers to UK nationals.
