WHERE DOES THE YEAR-ROUND SCHOOL YEAR BEGIN AND END?
On a year-round calendar, the school year begins in August and ends in June. WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF THE YEAR-ROUND CALENDAR ON THE INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM? What is taught and how it is taught are not influenced by the school-year calendar. The same instructional minutes per year are scheduled for instruction on both the year-round and the traditional school calendars. Differences which occur in the instructional program from school to school are a result of the specific building curriculum and methods of the teachers. Studies of the effect on learning indicate that students require less review time when breaks are shorter in comparison to the traditional three-month vacation period.
