Where in Maui Hawaii is a nice, semi exclusive, romantic place for a honeymoon?
We like the Wailea area; although there are tourists around, it’s a little lower key than the Ka’anapali, and Wailea is beautiful! Several luxury resorts are located along the ocean, including the Fairmont Kea Lani, Four Seasons, The Grand Wailea (it has a huge group of pools connected by waterslides and a “water elevator” so families do frequent this resort, but it’s still romantic and beautiful — there’s even a little wedding chapel on the grounds). Some people also take the Road to Hana and stay in Hana for a couple of days. I’ve never been, but it’s more remote and not as accessible. There are many side trips off the Road to Hana where you can enjoy the beauty, have a romantic picnic, etc. Napilli & Kapalua are other places to check out too. I’d just stay away from Ka’anapali and Lahaina (go there on a day trip; don’t stay there) — very touristy.
