Where is Cebu going?

We saw a few call centers being put in place and we also think that ICT, which is actually more sophisticated and far removed from a call center business, is the next biggest thing happening or going to happen in Cebu. Just what do we really want for Cebu? Is it tourism, which is the main topic, along with the retirement industry, in the last IntourPreneur Conference? Is it call center and ICT business? Or is it light industrialization in the nature of the firms that we now see in Mactan’s two economic zones? In the words of Fidel Ramos in his Philippine 2000 Plan, we already know how and what the East Asians and our few successful neighbors in Southeast Asia did in becoming the worlds newly or nearly industrializing countries.
