Where is Havana in Cuba?
Located on the northern coast of the island of Cuba and facing the United States across the Straits of Florida, Havana is by far the largest city in the country, being home to around three million people. Straddling the Almendares River, the city was long known as the ‘Key to the New World’, with this strategic importance having blessed it with some stunning architecture and a vibrant cultural heritage. Any stop-overs? Flights between the UK and Cuba take around eight hours and neither of the carriers offering the service currently offer stop-overs. However, travellers can take advantage of cheaper airline tickets between the two countries by looking into flying into Havana from either Paris or Madrid, with the latter especially the source of relatively cheap flights due to high levels of passenger demand.
