Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Boulder, Colorado?
Broomfield: Joe’s Rib Basket w/Double Diamond sauce, Mike’s Basket (beef w/Memphis), small June Bowl (pork w/DD). The D.D. sauce was labeled ‘Pure Fire, experts only’. It wasnt’ hot. Memphis sauce was ok. Ribs were well smoked and rubbed; quality of meat only fair. Meat was close to falling off bone. June Bowl was unimpressive (pork, mashed, and beans smooshed together). Didn’t like the beans; not flavored well enough. Slaw got some praise; big winner-the tasty mashed potatoes. When I arrived there were only 2 young (~18) kids working who told me they were ‘swamped’ and didn’t have time to make my order yet. I waited 10 extra mins. a large line formed behind me. Though food is so so, I would go back to KT’s reason: price. Mike’s Basket cost $7 w/2 sides and drink. Rib basket $9 also w/2 sides and drink. Price aside, it’s just not spectacular barbecue.Pros + price, quantity, mashed potatoesCons – sauce, speed of service, bbq beans
I grew up eating BBQ in Austin, Texas but now live in Boulder, Colorado.I love Daddy Bruce’s BBQ but always fondly recalled the great Texas BBQ of my youth.I took my family to central Texas over Thanksgiving and we visited every BBQ joint we could.Daddy Bruce’s is better! Nobody can touch his ribs, the beef brisket has an intense smoky down home flavor, and his BBQ sauce is to die for. Pretty good coleslaw too.On the other hand, while BBQ joints are supposed to be funky, Bruce takes things a little far. His chicken is only fair, beans bad and forget the bread.Strictly take out.Pros + Best ribs anywhere, Great BBQ sauce, Take OutCons – Limited menu, No beer!, Too funky
