Where is the Best Celebrity Chef in Nashville, Tennessee?
My friend has recently moved to East Nashville and so we’ve been exploring the non-chain eateries in the area. This place has great ambiance. It helps that the weather was amazing last night, low humidity and cool, so we were able to take advantage of the back porch which is lovely. There were flowers blooming, swings to sip wine in, and the building itself is an eyecatching shade of eggplant. My friend tried a standard on the menu, a pesto pasta dish, while I had two of the specials…a pear salad and pizza. I really liked the pear salad. Most salads seem to derive their flavor from heavy dressings while the flavor of this salad centered on fresh pear and grape slices. The pizza was a thin crust with tomatoes and artichokes. Usually I’m not a big fan of thin crust, but this pizza won me over and my friend enjoyed her pasta. We had my husbands USS Midway Reunion in Nashville, and I chose Monell’s as the place to have our last dinner all together before everyone departing Nashville. We live in Ca and picked this out only looking at the Internet. OMG, what a surprise this was, and this left a forever memory with everyone as it was so GOOD!!! I have traveled over half this earth and have eaten in places rated from 5 star to those to sleazy to be rated, but I have never eaten at a place where everything served was as well prepared, and as tasty as the food served at Monells. The staff were efficient and friendly, the atmosphere charming, and the food just kept coming and coming, everything was cooked to perfection, and that banana pudding was second only to what my mother in law used to make. It makes a great place to have a group dinner, as you pay individually, very reasonable, all sit together. Best food in Nashville. Chef Deb knows her stuff & combinations of herbs, spices, & choice of accompaniments superb. Mixed review due to inattentive server. Greatly disappointed with only one vegetarian entree & like previous reviewers, was told must call ahead ?special requests.? If so, WHY does Zola make a point of playing to the vegetarian aspect of their menu? Luckily, the one vegetarian entree was delicious, & if it had been served hot, rather than room temperature, we would?ve been 100% satisfied. (Not on the chef, but server, who delayed delivery.) Lamb entree too was room temperature, however, flavors are exquisite! Had lamb in Greece & this was even better. Tender, moist, flavorful! Accompanying grilled eggplant sandwich divine. Sides: Sugar peas in butter sauce, spinach w/ parm & grilled zucchini. All excellent, favorite zucchini. Pleasantly surprised at generous portion size?enough for leftovers.
