The staff at GCH were amazing, they truly carried out the Disney reputation of being friendly and wanting to ensure that their guests have an amazing visit. We did have a problem with our first room (it was not clean, had a bad odor), but a quick call to the front desk had us into another room very quickly. The proximity to Downtown Disney and to Disney’s California Adventure Park are great, especially if you get drenched on Grizzly River Rapids (we did!). The price is a bit steep, but if you can swing it this is a great property. …

My husband takes me to a different steak house for my birthday each year (Mortons, Ruth’s Chris, Donovan’s) and this year it was Fleming’s in Newport Beach. We had reservations and were seated fairly promptly at a table by the bar. We had a couple of cacklers at the bar that from time to time would let out a crazy piercing laugh, but what can you do? At least there was a glass partition that somewhat shielded us from some of the obnoxiousness at the bar. The food was great though! Initially they serve a plate of toasted breads with two types of spreads (brea and blue?). That was very yummy! We checked in at the Hyatt Newport and asked the concierge to recommend a restaurant and without hesitation he said “Oysters”. So we had him make us a reservation. We showed up about 30 minutes early and thought we would have a drink at the bar. The maitre d’ said he could seat us right away if we wanted, so we took him up on his offer. We started off with the Spicy Salmon Tempura Roll which was incredible. Then we had the Kung Pao Calamari. This is one of the best dishes I have ever had, the calamari was tender, sweet, spicy, fabulous!!!! The entrees were just as incredible. I had the Halibut with shrimp risotto and my wife had the white sea bass with creamy mashed potatoes abottle of Hitching Post Pinot Noir to go with it and i’m talking culinary heaven. Our server was top notch, pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, a real pleasure. After the meal the comped us after dinner drinks, a Tuaca for me and an Amaretto for my wife.
