Where is the Best Coffee in Atlanta, Georgia?

Atlanta does a good job with its smaller, “mom and pop”, type restaurants, coffee shops, retail and other niche market businesses. When I went into JavaVino I found one of the best local and unique businesses I have ever found anywhere. In addition to some amazing coffee, the atmosphere is really cool. You’ll often see the actual Mom and Pop there and the coffee is from their family, from what I heard some people talking about with the owners (at least I thought it was them). My wife and I plan on going and trying their wine side of the business. It looked like they had quite a large wine list and some I knew to be some of my favorites. I would highly recommend this place to someone looking for something new, or someone looking for a regular hang out.Pros + coffee, atmosphereCons – busy

Java Monkey.I thought I’d hate it. Stupid name, I hear they have a wine bar, live entertainment, it’s in Decatur etc.But I would wade through a thousand Decatur yuppies drunk on wine and chatting about their mortgages for just a sip of a Java Monkey latte. The staff seems to know their product. Not overly friendly (thank god, since I don’t need a new friend just a cup of joe), they are quite efficient and talented. It seems a lot of the baristas have mastered simple latte art. The drink taste is heavenly. The perfect blend of good espresso and well crafted milk/foam served in a proper ceramic mug with accoutrement. If only I could enjoy it in a different environment. The store itself is very homey and lived in. A classic coffee shop vibe–secondhand furniture, dim lighting, folk art etc. then why does it attract so many damned yuppies? Lesbian yuppies with their newly minted families, straight yuppies from the condos around the corner, former hippie yuppies, hipset yu

We have been very pleased with the whole bean coffee that we purchase from the Senoia Coffee Co. It is roasted on site, and the owner is happy to spend time, when possible, talking about coffee and the process of roasting it. It is well worth going a little out of our way to purchase fresh, delicious coffee at a very reasonable price.Pros + Fresh, economical coffeeCons – So-so food

We are residents of Decatur and eat out very often. We were very frequent Mick’s customers and were sad to see them close. But Parkers has definitely “one upped them” in food and with a beautiful atmosphere and style. This location–particularly the patio– is best in Decatur for people watching, atmosphere, shade– as we LOVE to eat outdoors anytime we can. Their patio is suberb. We have eaten there dozens and dozens of times and have never been disappointed with food or service even one time. The servers are all very good and we have some that have been absolutlety delightful, attentive, fun, and very friendly. The BEST! Everyone makes you feel very welcome from Host to Managers to Owners– as well as servers. Truly our Number 1 Decatur favorite! All they need is those WHEAT rolls as an option they’ll be PERFECT!Pros + Location, View, Food, Service, Owners and Managers!Cons – Can be pricey and need bread variety (ie wheat option)
