Where is the Best College Bar in Los Angeles, California?

I’ve been to WBC on a earlier weekday night and a Saturday night, and the vibe is totally different. On the Saturday night, it was extremely packed and noisy… people were scrambling to make an order at the bar and it felt like the bartenders heads were turning. We got a table and our service was extremely slow. On the weekday night, the place was a lot more relaxed and we ordered a bunch of appetizers for relatively cheap. Our waitress was cool and checked up on us numerous times. The area has a very pub feel, and its a decent place to go watch a game and just casually hang out with friends. Pros + good beer and appetizers, relaxed environmentCons – parking, slow service on weekends

I discovered the GG about one year ago and its now my favorite all around bar. It may look a little shady from the outside but on the inside it’s a whole different world. I love how everytime I’ve gone (mostly on Friday nights) there is never a line outside and they don’t charge you cover. It does get pretty crowded, and it is a pretty small space but the eclectic crowd gives you a great opportunity to mingle and chat. Every person I’ve brought here loves it. The bartenders are great and friendly and drinks are reasonable (although they can be a little stingy on the liquor). The music they play is great and the overall ambience is wonderful. Such a change of pace from the usual Hollywood trendy scene.Pros + Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders, no outside linesCons – Small space, can get really crowded, drinks aren’t that strong

I really like this place. For years, I have wanted to go here (because it looks so interesting from the outside) and I wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere was fun and casual, full of people from all age groups. It had a community aura about it. The food was good. I would have liked it if they had had a couple more beers on tap but they had the important ones (Smithwick’s and Guinness). Pros + valet parking, good food, great atmosphere

The bar is a Westside legend and the staff is cool. “Open at 6:00 a.m.”! At the same time, if you’re looking to sing go anywhere else for Karaoke. The KJ is the absolute worst in West LA. She not only bumps anyone else when her friends show up, but she also mics her buddies up while she drops the levels for everyone else to barely audible. It is a total Karaoke embarassment. There’s just too many good Karaokes around Santa Monica to allow yourself to be treated as poorly as the Gaslight’s KJ treats anyone who doesn’t make her “friend” list.Pros + Great Parking, Great BartendersCons – Awful Karaoke

First of all, it’s called Maloney’s. Second of all, it’s not that great. Unless you’re a UCLA student, then it’s awesome cause you know EVERYONE in there, but it still isn’t that great. Think very dark, very crowded (like, I’ve waited over an hour before…not worth it) and very college. If you’re not a UCLA student or a friend of a UCLA student, you pretty much have no reason to be here unless you’re a creepy older person trying to score a young date. Anyways, the bottom line is, if there IS a line, don’t wait in it, cause you’re still just going to be standing around waiting once you get inside. Just go to Brewco at that point. The only time I like going to Maloney’s is early on a Tuesday night. You can start out with 50 cent pints around the block at Seppi’s subs, then when those run out, hustle over to Maloney’s while there’s still no wait. Then you have the freedom to snag a table with your friends, grab a $4 Tuesday Special Liter Beer, and hang out till the throngs start rushing
