Where is the Best Dance Club in Chicago, Illinois?
This place is always a fun time. You’ll see Trixies in tube tops, punks w/ mohawks, biker dudes covered in tattoos and Lincoln Park frat boys all hanging out together. The DJ spins an excellent, eclectic mix; Ludacris flows into Franz Ferdinand, then it’s Kanye followed by old-school Pixies. The downstairs dance floor is always packed (and you might even see Naked Guy, who’s some dude who shows up and completely disrobes. You’ll know he’s out there when this huge circle opens up on the dance floor. Because, really, who wants to be near Naked Guy?) and there’s also an old-time photo booth (convenient for getting photographic evidence of your drunk friends). The tiny upstairs bar offers a little more breathing room, but it’s still really loud. This is a bar to dance and drink; not have a heart-to-heart with your best friend. The drinks are strong. Really strong. So if you’re a lightweight, just stick to beer.
My sister, one of our friends, and I went to Level in june. We went on a friday night, and the place was off the chain. We took a cab (obviously did not want to try parking). The DJ was in some type of box thing, and they dance floor in the back stayed packed. The drinks were ok, but I would advise smuggling in some shooters to help out the drinks. The music was ok but it’s different depending on ehat level you’re on. The guys were hot, and I loved the fact that it was an older crowd (not granddaddy older but couple of years outta college older). We went again on a saturday night and it was ummm…yeaa….not so great. We had to wait, paid waaay too much, and the music on the main floor stunk. I guess lightening can’t strike twice. All in all, the staff is decent, the dance floor is cool, and the music is decent. I’ve had better club expiriences, and I have definitly had worse. The very first time I came to Transit was for NYE 2004/05. That night was a really fun night with champagne and all. The next time I came was for the Valentine’s party that same year. This night, however, didn’t go so well for reasons I don’t remember (or don’t care to remember). So when it was time to choose a spot to celebrate my birthday, I was pretty hesitant to choose Transit. I guess what did it for me (on paper) was the music selection they played which would’ve suited my guests (if they did show up, but that’s another story). Well, for the most part they were true to their package which is always a plus. They did give me n my guests free cover n a bottle of champagne and free drinks for an hour (even though it was domestic beers and well drinks). I love going to boys town and this is my fav. place to go. I can always have a good time here even if its not the weekend and not too crowded. I enjoy that the DJ is not cocky like at some places, (you know the types) when I ask for a song its not a big deal and I’m sure to hear it before I leave. The bartenders are friendly and good at suggesting drinks that are on special and there are always plenty to try. I have never had a problem with parking or bouncers or anything. The only down side is that there is sometimes a cover charge and I’m not to sure when that is. Its been kind of luck of the draw for me at the door, not sure if they just decide who they’re charging.I LOVE the crowd. Gay or straight, male or female I like that its always a mixed very diverse crowd.
