Okay so I like to think of myself as a McCormick expert. My first McCormick visit was in Kansas City years ago. I fell in love with the brown bag dessert. Chocolate mouse stuffed into a ‘brown bag’…

The Melting Pot is a great addition to the Kansas City Country Club Plaza. This restaurant is a fondue restaurant and the only one of it’s kind. Each table has a burner sat in the middle. If you have a larger group you may have two burners on your table which is great because it allows you to enjoy more fondue options. There are many courses available at this place. You often start with a cheese fondue and they have many great options. The Wisconsin trio is my favorite. The fiesta cheese is great too. The cheese comes with veggies, bread and apples to dip in it. Then next is the salad course and they have great salads. The one with the rasberry dressing is great. The meat course isn’t my favorite and since it is the most expensive I will usually skip this. However, they have choice cuts of most meats available and they have different flavored oils that you can fondue your meat in and then sauces for dipping. The last course is the best! I visit the Custard’s Last Stand in Blue Springs. We used to go to the Lee’s Summit store but find this store much more convenient to visit after work. It has the whole package. Indoor Seating, Outdoor Seating, Drive-Thru with that rock-n-roll atmosphere. It is a special place to visit. We love the Turtle sundae. Service is great and they always make it right without skimping on the toppings as other places do. Great place to take a family!Pros + good value, friendly atmosphere, fun experienceCons – sometimes parking

We visited in Sept. 2006 to celebrate our 5th anniversary. I made a reservation and requested the back room. I was really glad we did this because on a busy Friday night, we wouldn’t have been able to hear each other talk elsewhere in the restaurant. The food was okay, but not worth the prices. We ordered an appetizer but our otherwise attentive waiter forgot to bring it out. They did bring me a single, long-stem, red rose to commemorate our special occasion, which I thought was a nice touch.I really recommend splurging to get a Stoli, which is their pineapple-infused Martini that they shake right at the table for you.Pros + Ambience, ServiceCons – Overpriced, Stuffy

This is the place to hang out outside in the summer. The outside patio is always packed in the summer. I am so glad when this place expanded from there solo location in Johnson County. The frozen custard here is always fresh and I love the fact that they use fresh fruits and use seasonal products such as pumpkin pie in the fall. I also love that the employees wear white because it shows how clean everything is and all the employees always seem to be happy and cheerful.
