Where is the Best Dessert in Sacramento, California?

When I found the Freeport Bakery and saw it was a bit crowded I knew it must be good. The store is absolutely adorable inside and out. I was a bit disappointed at the limited seating. But I can get past that. In addition to the great sweets, the breads are really good as well and the service was fast. A nice assortment of fresh, baked goods. They have great artistry in their desserts. I hear the bakery is known for their fruit basket cake . I just had to have one of the bran muffins with cream cheese. My total was only a little over $6, not bad at all. Its definitely a 5 star place.

Each of our party of 6 ordered something different…I loved the soup of the day…Roasted red pepper and corn- deelicious. Next time I’ll try the crab cakes with bernaise, I tasted my friend’s and it was out of this world. The potatoes they serve are like nuggets of gold and are so yummy. If you like custard and French toast you will be THRILLED with your order…It’s to die for and will haunt you. We ate on the delightful patio–our servers were great and the atmosphere was heaven. Go there! PS: If you want a great Bloody Mary..try theirs. PPS: Desserts? OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Personally I’m not a fan of the MeltingPot. While they do a decent job in food quality and preparation and offer an unique dining experience, it’s really expensive for Fondu. We make Fondu at home all the time and it’s dirt cheap compare to this place. I’m not really impressed by the long wait times between courses as well. How long does it take to boil some sauces and bring a place of food for dipping?!? Typical dining takes about 2-3 hours. While I can enjoy doing that for a fine French restaurant, this is not fine French dining.

When a company funds a political referendum that tries to take rights away from Americans, what kind of a company are they? Because the owner of Leatherby’s has given money to the Proposition 8 folks, I will never step into one of their stores! Although I am straight, I gotta stand up for my gay brothers and sisters!!
