Ok, this was our first visit to Ralph’s but not to Italian restaurants in So. Philly. We had a great time. The food was great. I mean, what you’d expect from a small italian rest. We did have a reservation, and we were directed to the bar, past several waiting groups, and told that “Ron” knew we were there, and would be with us shortly. After maybe, 15 minutes we were taken to the third floor, much quieter and not quite as crowded, where Ron waited on us as well as at any fine restaurant. He was extremely attentive, but not overbearing. He was also accomadating and probably made our evening as nice as it was. He just seemed to arrive when we needed him. And that’s probably after climbing 2 flights of stairs. I would definitely return to give another visitor a real So. Philly experience.Pros + good food, a happening place, our service was greatCons – very crowded on 1st and 2nd floor,

While driving back to Boston from DC, my son and I decided to make a slight detour and return to Pietro’s. The traffic was crazy in the area and my wife was really second-guessing our decision to go out of our way just for pizza – until we arrived and were quickly served. Surprisingly, plenty of metered parking was available one block from the restaurant. The service was extremely attentive and the pizza was first-rate; spicy pepperoni and fresh basil and mozzarella sit atop a slightly sweet sauce. The calamari appetizer was fresh, lightly battered, and offered as a substantial portion. The seafood soup lobster bisque with finely shredded crabmeat – could have used a bit more zip, but was very pleasant, particularly when served with the fresh, crusty rolls that were ever-present on our table. Prices were very reasonable; lunch for three was $39 excluding tip and drinks. Pietro’s is definitely worth checking out if you’re new to the area or a return trip if you’re fortunate to h

While many critics of Marathon refer to it as “nothing more than” an upscale diner, I see that as part of the appeal. While never passing for fine dining, it is a great spot to eat comfort food and people-watch on a rainy night. Although the burgers are only fair, their chicken, salmon, and tuna sandwiches are quite good. My personal favorite is the chicken pot pie, which is huge and piping hot, just like home made, but without the 3 hours of cooking time. Another point in Marathon’s favor is that it is fairly versatile, appropriate for either a meal or just a few drinks. They also show movies on a drop-down screen every Wednesday night at 9.Pros + People-watching, comfortable food, locationCons – , burgers only fair

My wife and I visited the Italian Bistro for the first time last week in my quest for the best pizza in Philadelphia. We were seated fast and our waitress was very polite and quite efficient. The pizza was good although it was slightly burnt in some places but I understand. Nonetheless, it was very fresh and tasty. My wife had pasta and she loved it. I tasted it and was very fresh and tasty.I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will revisit it soon.Pros + Nice ambience, good mealsCons – None
