It was my anniversary and I wanted to create a formal atmosphere; I made reservations at Opus One by recommendation. Park your own car, valet svc is nice but we witnessed the valet bump someones nice vehicle. Could happen anywhere I guess. Your dining experience is only as good as your waiter. My waiter was David. Nice enough guy but due to a larger party next to us he paid more attention to them. Another waiter was kind enough to notice our many attempts to get his attention and got our drink orders. We wished he was our waiter(if mgmt is reading he was the blk guy – very attentive to his tables). Our dinner was good/not spectacular. My wife enjoyed her chicken and risotto- the risotto was FABULOUS. I thought the chicken was ok, kinda salty for my taste. I had King crab stuffed salmon. Maybe 3 microscopic pieces of crab inside. It was served over bed of rice and delicious sauce that saved the salmon. Needless to say two major points on rating a restaurant is service and

Food is fantastic but service definitely had problems. Waiter forgot to write down the side dishes we ordered and didn’t even apologize! We had to ask 3 times for our side dishes and finally were told he forgot to include them. Plus, most of my family felt he treated us with some disdain and was condescending. We were there to celebrate a 50th brithday so this really put a damper on the evening. Great food but with that kind of service for those prices, we’ll never come back!Pros + Outstanding cuisineCons – Condescending and forgetful wait staff

Maybe I am too picky but I didnt like how the food tasted after I fried it in the oil. We tried the original flavor oil becuase the other ones looked as though you just boiled the items in flavored broth. The cheese fondue was good, it was a little overwhelming but good. The meat and fish part with the oil was not to my liking and I wouldnt have it again. I really looked forward to it but I just didnt like it. I wished I would have tried the chocolate but it wasnt meant to be. The service was great and the ambiance was romantic, I just didnt like the food. Pros + Romantic and great serviceCons – I didnt like the main dish fondue

Simply, the best. The Lark was voted the best restaurant in America by Conde Nast Traveller readers, it won the HOUR Magazine restaurant of the year twice and has more accolades than any other restaurant in the history of Detroit. While it is styled after a European Country Inn, there is nothing like the Lark anywhere- fine dining at it’s finest. Pricey, but quite a value, most dinners in the $70+ range, I have spent more and gotten way less at other restaurants. It starts with a cold appetiser cart wheeled to your table, they will serve you what you want; shrimp, oysters, tenderloin, and the famous curry duck salad. They then bring you a soup or hot appetizers, and salad. Don’t overdo it, the main courses are showstoppers, if it is your first time the Gengis Kahn Rack Of Lamb is the best known dish. Yes, the clientele does dress well (although I have heard they no longer require a tie and jacket) Call me a snob, but I don’t want a slob in a wife-beater and plaid shorts sitting next

Let me start off by saying that I’m more of someone who would rather make a pan of brownies than have a crystallized web of sugar and a bite sized cake, but the Whitney really tries. For this I give…
