After leaving Mesh on Friday night 5/25/07,we went to Jags to see what was going on. It was just okay. The live band was fantastic, and featured an extremely talented lead singer, who also played trumpet and percussion. The rest of the musicians were great as well. It was a middle to upper middle aged mostly white crowd who were really having a great time on the dance floor and enjoying one another. Being one of the few non-white couples there, we still enjoyed ourselves. The only annoyance was a group of young black guys standing around all wearing their little Fedora, while holding up the walls and staring down people looking woefully outta place there. They were obviously there to pick up white girls, even if there wasn’t much to choose from on nearly every level. 🙂 I heard some cool things about Jags, but it must have been geriatric night cause I wasn’t feeling it. If it wasn’t for the band, we woulda left waay sooner. Jags is not for young (25-40) urban hip

The SceneThe old Palbino’s location in Montgomery has been totally redesigned, the Tuscan look replaced by sophisticated tones of gray and abstract artworks. Fresh flowers, candles and the fireplace add softer touches. Bring glasses: The room is dimly lit.The FoodLike other upscale spots around town, Jimmy D’s has made dry-aged steaks the focus of its menu. These steaks are huge, flavorful and perfectly cooked, but side dishes like sautéed spinach, caramelized onions or garlic mashed potatoes cost extra. The rack of lamb for two, pork chop, and veal chop served with crimini mushrooms, tomatoes and mozzarella are other house favorites, and there are a couple of token seafood dishes. The portions are as big as the prices, so lighter appetites may want to make a meal of appetizers, such as the deliciously cheesy oysters Montgomery, beef carpaccio, or crabcakes, combined with a salad, soup or side dishes.

I have eaten at the Celestial just a handful of times due to it’s very high prices. It is definately a restaurant for splurging or special occasions. The food has always been wonderful, and the view of the Cincinnati skyline might be the very best in the city. The only draw back is the service. You never know if you will get a good waiter or not. Sometimes the service amazing, and other times you’re mostly ignored. When my husband I went to dinner for my birthday, my husband had to actually get up from our table and go looking for waiter. My husband had speciffied that he wanted a special birthday dessert brought out as surprise when he made our dinner reservations. After we had eaten our dinners he kept waiting for a desert to be served, but nothing ever came, and the waiter never came by to check on us. After waiting a long time, my husband made and excuse and went looking for the waiter. My recomendation is if your service starts off badly, just leave before ording food.
