Whatever happened to music for all of age drinkers where at anytime you could go out and hear a variety of music from 70’s rock-n-roll to the newest hip-hop or dance music. Southbeach is only a place to go if you want to get drunk or high and just realy don’t care about the music. It’s always the same ole tired trance music, or some kinda of house music that you don’t recognize. If you would like to cool off though, in the middle of the night, then just stand in the middle of the dance floor as they release a cool mist over the dance floor and anyone dancing on it. Southbeach has a WONDERFUL lighting, sound, and video system, I just think that a place like this should cater to people of all ages, after all it’s normally the older people that have the money and will spend it.Pros + Audio/Video/Lighting/Dance FloorCons – No variety of music

In its new location, Guava Lamp is better than ever!! It’s a little bigger, but it still holds the same unique charm and style as its old location. The bar staff are always helpful and courteous. There’s no cover charge and reasonable drink prices. There’s a pool table, booths, and a lounge area in the back to just chill. The music always sounds great and there is a great DJ usually spinning great remixes of new and classic songs. Most of all, there is never a bathroom line! It is gay bar, but it doesn’t always seem that way because there is a good mix of people. This is a refreshing change to the typical gay bars or the bars downtown where you have to pay for parking (the parking is free). You must check this bar out.Pros + Bartenders, Music, PeopleCons – Not a damm thing

Who the hell wrote that? Spotless restrooms? I won’t even write in here the things I have seen in those restrooms out of respect for the bar staff. I have been going to the Rip for almost 10 years now and I have to say it is not what is was 10 or even 20 yrs ago (before my time). I like the “different” types of gay men it brings in. I sit on the patio and people watch (not recomended on a day it has rained or early summer due to mosquitos, its damp out there). You get to meet some of Houston’s more friendler gay men most have either been here for a million years or are natives like me. Not a place to bring women unless they are into leather and don’t mind being looked at strange.Pros + Nice PeopleCons – The Restrooms

The first time I ever went to Meteor after the Grand Opening, I was immedietly impressed. The staff, decor, and atmoshphere all make for an awsome and inviting place to hang out. I immedietly fell in love with the staff, and have since made Meteor, my “Home Bar.” Alec, the GM is a total delight, and the plush couches, and warm inviting personlity of the place, makes me want to continue to come back again and again. The crowd is great, and tends to attract a more higher end clientale than Jrs or the Mining. The 1.00 Vodka Drinks on Monday and Sunday nights is a great addition to the Kareoke show hosted by non other than Justin Dollar, not to menchon the hot gay boys that you will find wondering around the patio or lounging on a couch some where. Weather you are just visiting the area, or you call Houston your home, Meteor is with out a doubt a bar your going to want to frequent. If you have not made it yet, you need to soon!

Despite being really dated (Santa Fe? Really?), Jr?s can still be fun. The music is current, and the environment is relaxing. We went last Saturday night early and had fun with the new bartender, either Todd or Scott, it was hard to hear. He was friendly and fun, and really hot, especially for an older guy.. The crowd was a pretty good mix, but there are lots of crusty old queens ogling guys half their age. Unfortunately, Todd? leaves very early, so we headed out to Guava Lamp for a while. This seems to be a really good plan for a Saturday night. Also, I like Randall, he?s always nice to me.
