Rocket Science’s owner, Savannah Blue, has been cutting and highlighting my hair for five years now. I’ve gone to Savannah at 4 different salons because I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. First off, my hair has a tendency to turn orange or brassy when colored, but Savannah always mixes the perfect color to get it just the right shade of blonde. Also, Savannah’s cuts are great. She always listens to what I want and delivers a perfect result. As another reviewer here remarked, it’s true that her cuts are long lasting, even on my long hair.In addition to Savannah’s skills, Rocket Science is a great salon. The space is funky and cool, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the conversation is always amusing. No “hair snobs” here. There’s also plenty of street parking on or right off of Frenchmen.I give Rocket Science my highest recommendation and suggest an appointment even if you don’t live in the neighborhood. I live in Uptown, near the universities, and there are

One of the worst things about moving is finding a new hairstylist – colorist when you had the best in your old home town of Los Angeles. In L.A. my hairstylist was stylist/colorist to Nancy O’Dell – from Access Hollywood etc…etc…etc… many stars and I’ve been with her for over 10 years. I love her so much that I fly back to L.A. to get my hair done – no joke! Now I’m living in Houma, LA – very small town and I really don’t trust anyone to do my hair….however, it’s been 7 months since I’ve gotten my hair colored and it’s needed and I don’t have time to fly back to L.A……so I started researching New Orleans – read a lot of reviews on line – including the ones you’re reading now and after I saw that Dallas won best colorist in 2009 I took the chance – made the appt. and got my hair done TODAY. Can I tell you how AWESOME Dallas is???? Can I tell you how DETAILED he is?????? I told him my I normally have 3 highlights and One Low Light applied to my hair…he looks at it and

I removed my shirt/blouse and changed into a salon black smock as I was instructed to do. After paying for my hair cut and leaving a very generous tip for Katie, I went to the dressing room to remove the black smock and change into my shirt. Well, I was shocked to find that my shirt was missing. After searching every shirt hanging on both sides and looking into the hamper, I informed one of the workers there that my shirt was missing and I could not leave without a shirt. The worker searched herself and told me that it was probably a mistake of some kind and maybe fell into the laundry. I hung my shirt carefully up high and it could not have fallen. There was no mistake; my shirt was stolen by someone at the salon. I told the wor

I have gone to John Jay for about 3 years now. The staff is friendly. Casey is wonderful in coloring hair and sees that you always get the most for the money you spend. I wanted to go darker and hated it, but they took me back the next day and gave me the color I wanted for no extra charge. This is a great place where quality service is provided and where no one pressures you to buy products or try anything you don’t really want to do.
