Visited Royale last night and was happy with every single thing that they have going on. TV had the baseball game on, bartenders were courteous and efficient, Brooklyn on tap was cold and good. We had burgers and chicken fingers, both were outstanding. The burger comes open faced with lettuce, tomato and pickle, neatly stacked on a bun, and the perfect size burger. Not once does anything fall of the bun. Flavor was great too. The fingers were obviously homemade, not frozen and delicious. The crowd was a mix of people tables of good looking 20 something women, business types blowing off steam, and the typical locals who were at the bar itself, minding their own business. Truly a comfortable place with a great outdoor space, to sit and relax, absolutely would recommend it. Pros + service, atmosphere, foodCons – none, absolutely zero

The Minetta is an old friend. It doesn’t change, but it gets a little more frayed around the edge. Just like the waiters. Nice and comfy in the back dining room — they set up with starched tableclothes and make you feel welcome and don’t push you. Wine list great. Beers are good too. Good pasta, just nothing exciting. You can spend 3 or 4 hours here, and emerge into the night of the village as if you’ve come back from another era. Much better than Chumleys or that horrible white horse tavern.Pros + atmosphere, welcoming feelingCons – food is average and a bit expensive but you came here for the place, not the food

Just came here the other day because my teacher kept raving about this place a few months ago . When I first walked in , there was a long line but no worries .. you will get your order quicker than you think . I got a super steak which was okay but kind of on the bland side . I’m sure I’ve had better . They have a lot of different flavors of grill to choose from which is awesome because some grill places don’t even carry that . Basically if you’re looking for a cheap filling meal , this is the place to go . Order a steak or whatever and wash it down with meat .. nothing can top that .

I’ve never met a burger here that I didn’t like, and it has all the ingredients a junk food junkie could ask for.My only wish is that there was more space to move – the quarters are tight and it gets crowded. If you’re picking up, there isn’t much room to wait inside – you always feel like you’re getting in someone’s way. That being said, I’d deal with the lack of space anytime for pretty much anything on the menu.Pros + Great greasy food, fast friendly service, affordable pricesCons – Cramped inside

Our interest in historic places and great steak took us to Frankie and Johnnie’s over on 37th Street for an early dinner. Housed in John Barrymore’s former brownstone, J & F’s offers some fine food, albeit for a price. Started with one of the day’s specials, a tomato arugula and fresh mozzarella salad that was expertly done. We really wanted to try the risotto w/porcini mushroom and asparagus, but didn’t want to fill up on oversized servings of pasta . Our waiter graciously offered to have the dish split between the two of us as an appetizer – it was just the right size and delicious. We both opted for the surf (HUGE lobster tail) and turf (filet mignon) with a few sides. The steak was done exactly right, just melted in your mouth. Couldn’t get over the size of that lobster tail – sweet and firm and oh so tasty. Waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing or making us feel we needed to hurry; they were extremely professional and accommodating. It’s a typical steakhouse atmosphere
