Where is the Best Hamburger in New York, New York?

My wife and I stumbled upon this burger joint on a Thursday evening while walking around the neighborhood. The modern and bright orange decor of this place was inviting and so we gave the place a try for a quick dinner. We stepped in and ordered the natural chicken burger, organic beef burger, veggie slaw and organic fries. The beef and chicken burgers were good and the choices of condiments and specialty sauces added flavor to the sandwiches. Unfortunately, the organic fries were soggy and the veggie slaw lacked flavor. The place in general is small but was kept clean. The tables and chairs were continuously kept clean by the wait staff. The place can be packed with takeout customers standing around the small dining area waiting for their orders. Another thing is that the music is way too loud, making conversation a challenge. When the place got packed with customers, they turned off the music. Maybe, the counter staff themselves could hardly hear their customers orders?Pros

I want to like this place. I really, really do. Have been upwards of ten times because I live on Orchard Str. but have yet to leave and not feel used. They absolutely have one of the best burger anywhere, a delicious combo of ground beef, capers and beets served on an English muffin. Really top flight. Which is why one keeps going back and hoping to feel better about it. But I can’t help but feel they do not care that I’m there and that I’m making them go out of their way. I enjoy the shabby chic look and the crowd can be a really textured mix of hipster locals and weathered Euro-types who look as though they’re in port for the afternoon. So excellent people-watching to go with delicious mixed drinks. But there seems to be a disconnect between the kitchen and the dining room. Orders got lost, came wrong, items come at all different times; it’s a new thing every time. Oh and those charming steel framed glass windows? Allow for an insanely cold dining experience in the winte

Same formula as In-N-Out, you can even order using in-n-out terminology… Not quite as addictive, and the consistancy is not nearly the same. Somedays it’s perfectly put together, and other days not so much. The biggest difference is the service and cleanliness. Typical NY attitude here, unfriendly, not so clean cut workers instead of the cute girls at In-N-Out. Chaos in the kitchen and food all over the place is a huge contrast to it’s California counterpart. Also I had to take back my burger for them to get it right almost every time (even though the receipt had my order correctly). Still, it’s NYC and for us poor Californians who were woo’d here for the big bux (no other reason to move to this filthy hellhole) this is the closest we’ll get without having to deal with the nearly unusable airports.Pros + Food is greatCons – Order accuracy, and employee attitude just not on par with in-out, dirty

Great Place! I’ve loved coming here for over 10 years. Saw it change hands, was nervous, then loved it even more after it re-opened (6-7 years ago). The Burgers have always been the best, hell I think this place is what restarted the Burger Movement we all think we are responsible for. Most places have copied their burger ie: JG, Napkin, Shake, Bobby…the list goes on. All these people came here, started with P.J.’s, then twisted it to make it theirs. You don’t open a burger joint with out having P.J.’s first. Saddest thing to happen, the Meatloaf is gone. A few times they changed the day on me, but I kept up, then…it’s gone! It was the best damn Meatloaf I ever ate! They grilled it for Gods sake, who grills meatloaf…Genius! Bring it back!!!! The chef told me he loved it too, but you have to roll with change. Try some new things, then who knows, maybe it will be back one day. Kind of like the burger revolution, he told me “I’m in my thirties, I’ve been eating burgers

I went to CSBC this past Sat. morn alone — arrived at 9:20 and was third in line. I didn’t realize they don’t seat until 10am. I watched the line form and a hostess came out to take everyone on the line’s name. When they call you in for your table at 10, all the water and silverware are at your seat. I found the service excellent and very friendly, as was the hostess. No one tried to rush my party of one, either, which can happen. In fact, I asked the hostess and a bus boy questions and was answered very politely and warmly. All of my food came out piping hot with my AMAZING blueberry/maple/butter pancakes emitting steam that could burn your tongue if not careful. Pancakes were so fluffy — if you like IHOP, then go there! The cheesy grits were warm and gooey with all the comfort of home. The bacon is done properly and nice and thick. I truly can’t wait to go back. The couple next to me said the fried green tomatoes were fantastic — they looked that way too — good and crun
