Green’s Lunch is a Charlotte institution. They have been in business of over 80 years, since 1926. It is a friendly atmosphere with fast service, and good food. Their hot dogs are served on a soft steamed bun and fixed to order. All the way is mustard, ketchup, chili, onions, and slaw, however they have relish and kraut if you want it. My parents took me to Green’s when I was small, and I took my kids, and now my kids take their kids.It has become our meeting place every Saturday. When you go there you will see familiar faces all the time, and if you are a loyal customer, they even remember your order. There is alot of history at Green’s and alot of famous people have eaten there. I asked the owner once, what is the secret of Green’s hot dogs, and she replied, it is their secret homemade chili, only two people know how to make the chili. If you truely want a good HOT DOG go to Green’s Lunch, they are the best. Pros + Good food, fast service, friendly atmosphere, good priceCons – Weekda

Went to the Penguin last Friday. Both of us are new to Charlotte, and after seeing a clip about The Penguin on the Food Network, I suggested that we try it. First, we didn’t know were to park, but found a dirt lot near by. There was a huge line outside, but considering there were like 14 groups ahead of us, we didn’t wait long at all. The bar has great specials, $1.50 drafts, $5.00 yeunglin pitchers; they even have firefly, which appears to be hard to find in charlotte. The food is greasy but good. Fried pickles are “the thing to get,” but neither of us were that impressed. The area around the restaurant seemed really cool and like there was a lot to do nearby. I will definitely be going to The Penguin again!Pros + food, cheap drinks, good serviceCons – parking can be tight on weekend

If you want hot dogs with various toppings this is the place. Although it wasn’t as good as everyone said it was. The hot dogs were smaller than the bun. The toppings looked fresh, but lack of taste and zing. When I ordered the Bread Bowl to-go they didn’t even give me the bread bowl. I specifically asked the server, If I didn’t order the Bread Bowl for dine-in..do I still get the bread for take-out, she said yes, but when I got home, NOTHING’S THERE! So I just had regular chilli with no bread bowl. Though I was cheated a little there. 1 small dog, 1 drink, 1 so called bread bowl, set me back $8.50, not filling enough for that amount of money. (unless if I HAD THE BREAD MAYBE)Pros + Various dogs to pick, FastCons – Not much place to sit, Cold food, Bit pricey
