Where is the Best Hotel Dining in San Francisco, California?

We just ate there for my birthday, the service was good (very nice people), the atmosphere was pleasant (surprisingly quiet given it’s on a main street), but the quality of the food was highly variable. The sashimi dish was excellent – amazing combinations of flavors, but two other dishes (including their specialty cod dish) had too much salt. After a couple of bites, the braised veal dish was almost inedible. Interestingly, it was mostly my plate and not my husbands. His was also salty but not to the same degree. It’s a shame because it could have been great. The meat was of excellent quality and had clearly been well prepared. It melted in your mouth. Unfortunately, in my case I was left with a lot of salt. I kept trying to like it. The risotto seemed like such a good concept with corn and chanterelle mushrooms, but you just can’t enjoy it when it’s salty. The restaurant clearly noted that I had a problem with my meal because I did not eat it all, they asked why, and I told them. Hop

Went to XYZ for the first time for Dine About Town. There were 2 options for every course as well as wine pairings, which were OK, not excellent. My appetizer was a beet salad which made me realize how great beets are! It was delicious and simple. Our entrees, braised short ribs w/ broccoli rapini and salmon w/ risotto were tasty but very heavy. Flavors were good but I didn’t feel like it was something worth going to a pricey restaurant for. Dessert was excellent though, the semifreddo of banana bread and vanilla ice cream topped with candied walnuts was a great way to end the meal. Unfortunately, we felt overstuffed and there was little time in between courses to just take a break. There was a feeling of being rushed out of there (even though there were still open tables). Overall, very posh surroundings make it fun but food didn’t live up to expectations.

I attended a Meet & Greet w/ fellow reviewers on a Thursday evening. It was a pleasant surprise inside the Hotel Palomar in SF. Exiting off the elevator I was enveloped in warm furniture, silky velvety colours & a wash of lights. Like walking into a finely styled living room. There was guest master bartender that introduced me to the perfect gin mix w/ a rind of lemon. I decided on trying some appetizers from the bar area. Baby Beet Salad, EARTHILY GREAT! Lamb meatballs, SAVORY! Patty Melt Sliders, WOW! Service was ok. I will say I was expecting more w/ the prices I saw. I will note however, that the floor host was cordial & his smile was contagious! He was more help handing us menus and seating us than the actual waitress. If you want a quieter, upscale alternative to city lounges, this is the place. Pros + A comfy living/dining spaceCons – Service was decent, not exceptional for the prices

The Ritz! San Francisco’s finest. Life can’t get any better. A stately exterior–a beautiful and elegant interior–an ambiance that shouts “exclusive luxury.” That’s The Ritz. Guests are warmly greeted upon arrival by a well-trained, attentive staff and offered a glass of champagne, my favorite beverage–how thoughtful. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Ambiance and service met every expectation. We…
