Great concept from the original on Fountainview and graced the outer Memorial area. You might pass it by if you are not looking closely. Great food, limited variety, consistent quality, average service and nice ambience. One of the great attractions of LaVista is the opportunity bring your on wine and pay a corkage fee. It allows you to have a much nicer bottle (and one of your own preference) of wine with dinner than normally offer or affordable off the menu. Great concept, more restaurants should adopt this enhancement. The restaurant has no inventory expense tied up in wine, and they can and should charge for pouring the guest?s wine. Better restaurants HUGH mark up on wine is getting out of hand. To charge $65 for a typical $20-25 bottle should be illegal. Please don?t for get to tip the waitperson for opening and pouring the wine; and additional $5.00 should do. I tip $5.00 – $7.00 per bottle of wine?regardless of the cost. To add 15-20% to the cost of the wine is prepos

This is one of the best places to eat in Rice Village, and probably Houston as well. Plus, when Two Rows is a 45 minute wait on the weekends, you can basically walk right in to this place and enjoy some great food and wine… for cheap! Their wine is VERY modestly priced and they have a fantastic wine selection considering it is such a small place. Homemade pasta and sauces make this one of the best Italian meals for you can buy, and most plates are under $13ish dollars. Not a place to go on a romantic first date, but a great place to meet friends before going to some bars, or to grab a bite after work.A couple of Cons: Beer selection is minimal and some portions are perfect size (a lot of the tortellinis) while some are HUGE, and could be easily split by two people.Pros + Great Wine Selection, Great prices on EVERYTHING, Great place to meet friends and talkCons – Minimal Beer selection

We stopped in on a Sunday at three’an odd time. This was my first time here as My husband just had a buisness lunch there and was saying how he had the best Minstone soup. and he’s Itaiian! As soon as we walked in they treated us like we were arriving at dinner time. Just excellent service. I loved all of the choices, from brunch Items to full course dinners. As soon as we sat down the largest broiled garlic was sent out seasond to perfection it was spread on the basket of home made bread’s like butter. I have never had one so good world wide-really. Its a shame all restruants dont do this. I had the lobster bisque and my husband had the traditional Italian soup. which was one of the best in town. I had the duck entree and he had the stuffed pasta raviollies. you could taste the layers of everything fresh and homemade. I appriciate that they make there own pasta. The sauces were to die for. no cisco food here. Raul and our waiter Sergio are one of Houston’s best waiters.
