Where is the Best Italian Food in Houston, Texas?

We have eaten at this wonderful restaurant four times now and each time, everything has been perfect. The appetizers are all wonderful- we especially loved Sammy’s eggplant and the caprese – but then again, the sausage and peppers were great too! The lasagna is reasonably priced and homemade. And the fish is amazing. I guess I could go on and on about how delicious the food is- but I also want to mention how charming the house is, as well. This restaurant is in the old family home and the tables are reasonably spaced to insure privacy. One feels as if they are welcome guests in a friendly home. And, after dinner, check out the bocce ball court in the front yard for some more fun. We have dined there as a couple and also with a large group- and each time were made to feel welcome and were fed an amazing meal. Pros + charming family home, delicious food, easy parkingCons – can’t really think of any

My husband and I went here a with a little hesitation after reading the reviews. We decided we were too overwhelmed by the desire to find a place with the atmosphere we love from Italy to not try it. Don’t get me wrong, we love the food at Prego, the wild boar dishes at Da Marco, and the pizza at Dolce Vita. But none of those places have the character of a place you visited in Tuscany. Well, Antica Osteria did. We arrived and the place was packed and somewhat chaotic without being annoying or loud. It smelled fantastic! We waited in the bar for about 20 minutes for our reservation where we flipped through the wine list, ordered a bottle, and admired the atmosphere. We overheard one couple complaining about wanting the rest of their food to come out, but I really got the feeling that it was because they are hurried Americans. If you have traveled in Europe, especially Italy, dinner does not move at our rushed pace. It is an event. So, we relaxed and had a fantastic dinner. T

Finding a great restaurant for a special dinner in the Cypress area has been impossible until now, but Mezzanotte has changed all of that! Situated in the corner of a small strip mall, we were not sure what to expect. But we were very pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door to find a wonderful decor that balanced an inviting atmosphere with a touch of elegance. Add to that personable service and things started off wonderfully. But in the end it is the food that makes the difference and, here again, Mezzanotte does not disappoint. The warm Ceasar salad is as outstanding as it is unique and so far I cannot tell you about the other appetizers / salads since I cannot go without having that as my first course! Every entree that we have tried has not only been excellent but, again, with unique yet subtle seasonings that are unlike any other Italian restaurants in the area. It keeps every visit interesting as we try different entrees. I have to also say that a real steal is

I am from out of town, and am in Houston on business. I stopped by Josephines for lunch after hearing that they had pretty good food. I ordered the veal parmessean. The veal was tender and tasty. However, I would have preferred there to have been more cheese on the dish. Also, the sauce was watery. If you are going for lunch and are dressed well, make sure that you take one of the bibs they offer. The sauce is watery enough that you will need it. There was no wait and the price was reasonable. All in all, a good place to go for a decent lunch at a fair price, but not a place to write home about.Pros + Good price, good service, good location, offer bibsCons – Watery sauce

We have passed by this wonderful place every time we drove home from the Galleria so we figured it was time to finally make it in. Service was great from second we stepped out of our cars. Hostess was super nice as well as our waiter Gerardo. I realize now after looking at the city search page the owner was there and greeted us as well. Food was great. Nice sized portions. My wife is vegetarian and there are quite a few things she was able to order. I got the grilled chicken with olive oil. It as really good. The butter cake someone else mentioned was great as well. Maybe too big for one person though. I recommend making reservations. The place was almost full on a Wednesday night. i can’t imagine what it is like on a weekend. The pricing was really fair. Honestly it might only be a dollar or 2 more the macaroni grill. Mixed drinks have a fair fair price and are quite large. Pros + Great service, great food, great selectionCons – A little hard to get to since is by the Galleria
