Online reservations, great, but when I called to confirm I spoke with a very unfriendly, young male host. That should have tipped me off to the level of service I should expect. Bar service took too long, waiter took even longer. Drinks during dinner took far too long and several were just plain forgotten! The menu is deceiving, it looks like a delicious assortment but it’s all rather bland. The food is not fresh, it’s thawed. From the ceviche to the mango salsa I was consistenly disappointed. I’ve been to several South American restaurants and this one is by far the least impressive. It’s as if Chili’s opened up a Latin chain, making it overpriced for what it is. Good for a group because of the large space, and with good company you forget so much about the mediocrity of the food itself.Pros + Spacious, Decent Parking, Good for GroupsCons – Service, Value, Flavor

Delivery is a reason to order from here – decent: speed = average, hot food = always (for us), pleasant = always, order mistakes = none (for us), takes cash/credit/debit/check = yes, decent delivery areaFood: average. They are known for their BBQ, sweet & sour, and crab-cream cheese rangoons/wontons.Lo Mein is fair, Mongolian Beef is decent, Fried Rice is decent.Chicken dishes are decent.Nothing to run out and select as choice #1, but if the goal is “a change, hot food/meal, Chinese delivery” then China Hill is amongst the top choices for the area.Pros + Delivers hot, correct ordersCons – Average food

This food is delicious! I work downtown and my office was having a training so we ordered Take-out from Portabla. We all ordered these Panini sandwiches and they were YUM! They had basil pesto and provolone cheese…my favorites!! The homemade cookies were delicious! Plus, the service was GREAT! Let me tell you what happened: They forgot one of the sandwiches and I was picking everything up. I should have checked. I felt so bad, but since we were in training I couldn’t get back in my car to get it. So I called to let them know and the CHEF/OWNER agreed to bring it to our office HIMSELF. Now that’s service! Who does that anymore? I know he’s a new owner for this restaurant and I guess he’s aiming to impress! Mission accomplished! I can’t wait to go and try it for dinner!Pros + Delicious Gourmet Food, Excellent ServiceCons – I wish they delivered lunch to downtown!

I had actually never heard of/noticed this place before, despite the fact that I’ve driven and walked by it numerous times. The outside is pretty nondescript, and it’s much nicer inside than you would guess at first glance.2 friends and I came here today for Saturday brunch at 12:45. I made a reservation just to be sure, but it was totally unnecessary. One of the worst things about trying to eat a good meal on the weekend in Austin is WAITING. And at Zax’s, I doubt that is ever much of an issue. And I like it that way. There are tons of beers on tap (10+) and there were lots of good selections to peak my interest. The prices are very reasonable (~$7-$13 entrees) and most beers are $4.25/pint (which came FULL). I had an omelette with goat cheese and spinach for $8 which I thought was quite good. It was packed to the brim with spinach and served with a side and toast.  One of my friends ordered the egg/crab cake/hollandaise sauce concoction and we all agreed it was divine. It’s always nic

The fajitas are great, definitely some of the best in Austin. The margaritas are marginal. The service is not what I would call warm or invi…
