Where is the Best Lunch Spot in New Orleans, Louisiana?
Cafe Degas is a treasure in New Olreans. An open French Cafe that serves GREAT food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere and service make this one of the best “small” restarants in a city of “BIG” names that are over-rated. Emerils’ comes to mind… BAM…Pros + Inexpensive, Friendly Service, AtmosphereCons – Street Parking, Limited Tables
This tiny restaurant is about as basic as it gets. You stand around and hope a table will open up, and peruse the menu on the chalkboard while you wait. By the time you sit down you probably know what you’re going to get. Service is sketchy – while our waitress was extremely nice, she was also extremely busy, and we had to wait a while before placing our drink order. Drinks were stiff, and food came quickly. The jambalaya took my breath away, and my friend’s seafood gumbo was just as good. Fried chicken and red beans ‘n rice also got raves. Definitely a place worth experiencing, but those who prefer fine dining of the white tablecloth and tuxedo’d wait staff variety will likely hate it.Pros + Food is to die forCons – Long wait for table and service
Five Happiness is not what it used to be. I’m not sure what has gone wrong, but the service is worse than ever as well as the food tasting average. I used to enjoy going to this restaurant for the experience, excellent service, and fantastic food… now it’s not worth the price. If you haven’t gone here, try it once. I much prefer China Orchid further down Carrollton, almost to St. Charles. Pros + Wide variety of food, can seat large groupsCons – Service has gone done, food is certainly not above average
