Where is the Best Mexican Food in Hartford, Connecticut?
It is a quirky Mexican place, the atmosphere seems to be a combination of lake/mountains/beach and Mexican. There were old skis on the wall right next to what looked like pottery from Mexico. I was very impressed with the ambiance- small but inviting, kind of dark, but welcoming. I liked the large firplace. This being the case, I was expecting wonderful Mexican food- unfortunantly, that was not the case. The marguitas were very good- as were the nachos and salsa they give you. But, I ordered a combination, an enchilada, a taco, and a burrito- I ordered a hard taco and they gave me a soft one, and the chicken inside was the processed ground stuff, it was very dry. When the waitress finally remembered that we were there I was able to get some water to help swallow the dry chicken. My fiance had steak fajitas- the steak was great, it was kind of strange that they put zucchini in the fajitas instead of the lettuce/tomato etc. The steak was very good for fajita steak- but the meal was not
I have been coming here for years. And we keep going back even though we have only one real complaint, the service. Majority of the time the service is lacking, and it could be for a variety of reasons. But it isn’t enough to stop us from going back. The food is good, I usually dine from the Chuck’s menu while my husband chooses the Mexican dishes. Our little one enjoys it, and plan on spending a chunk of change if you choose to dine there. But their drinks are good, their food is good, their desserts are great, and it is a nice atmosphere. Pros + food, drinks, atmosphereCons – service, crowds
