Had a great time while looking for a place to watch the Finals, the Braves game, AND live music WITH good food and brews. My friend was ordering Bass on tap, which ran out, so the bartender brought his next pick “on the house”. After Bass was re-tapped he then brought out one “on the house” as well all with a smile having us feel like one of his close friends. Chris Ricker played and was amazing, conversational, and interacted very well with the audience — laughing and playing everyone’s suggestions as well as some of his favorites. It wasn’t too crowded and I really felt like I got away from the whole trendy college scene. To think!?!? right in the middle of Va.Highlands and NOT trendy??? nice. This place is definitely going to be one of my new favorite hang outs.Pros + Food, Brew, Live Musicians

I’d have to say this is probably my favorite bar in the Highlands. The food is really good for a bar (try the specials!) and there are always people in here even on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the middle of summer. On the weekend nights, it can get pretty packed in here…fairly diverse crowd. Bartenders are good as well. I believe there is a nonsmoking section next door in the restaurant area.Pros + good bar menu, diverse crowdCons – none

While the Ballroom Lounge of the Highland Inn is not quite a secret, its dingy-chic meets vintage style (i.e. black and white tile, old furniture, and decayed grandeur vibe) offers libations and badass music events for a fraction of the price bars that try to re-create the same “effortless” vibe charge. Mega cheap High Life, generous pours of Jack ‘n’ ginger, loosen up an excellent mix of folks including ex-fratboys, hipsters and that cute tatted up girl you saw at the Majestic the weekend before. Make sure to attend a late night 60’s dance party complete with wall projections of weirdo films, or for a low key jazz night during the week.Pros + Great mix of people, awesome dance party potentialCons – Better to finish the evening here, rather than start it

My husband I go to the Albert a lot since it’s in the neighborhood. We’ve been on weekend nights, weekday nights, lunch and Sunday nights. The food is always good. It seems like they’re still trying a few things out. The pasta salad is great even though they keep changing it slightly. I saw a few people give the burger a bad review. We’ve always thought the burger was good, and we’re picky burger people. Mine was overcooked once, but other than that, it’s consistently good. The crabcake sandwich is my favorite…BY FAR. It is spicy and delicious. The atmosphere is great, but it does get a little crowded after 9 on the weekends. The service is usually good. Last time we were there, the service got bad by the end of our visit. But, I think that was because the person was training. Friday night is not a good night to train new staff. All in all, this is a great spot to wind down after a long week. One more thing….PLEASE PUT PAULANER BACK ON DRAUGHT!!Pros + Atmosphere, Food, Crabcake

This was a pretty fun place. Me and my guy friends went on a friday night. Had guestlist so we didnt have to pay to get in. Its underground and kind of has the look of a brick loft. Drinks are kinda pricey but if you’re a lady then that usually is not an issue. The music was pretty fun like a mix on an ipod…but i mean it in a good way. I met a couple people there that are good friends now so yes it is a good place to meet and mingle. Ummm…the vip room was pretty neat. Kinda like a “be seen” area. It was enclosed in a clear glass area so it was like being in a fishbowl. Pretty neat. All in all it was a pretty cool place and I would go there again. So if you’re sitting at home with a couple friends and have a hankering to go out then check this place out.Pros + atmosphere, music
