On a repeat visit to McMinnville and surrounding wine country, we decided to check out Bistro Maison, based on reviews we’d read on this site. On a mid-week night in September we arrived for our early evening dinner reservation. With the weather still pleasant, we chose the lush patio/garden seating where tables were covered in warm yellow and blue cloths and candles. Overhead, were strings of lights with reflectors that cast a romantic glow. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner personally attended to our wine selection. We started our meal with a cheese and pate board, followed by an entree of crusted pork chop with huckleberry sauce, mash potato, and roasted green beans. The starter was varied, and piqued our anticipation of the main course. The chops (at least 1-inch thick) were perfectly done, and the sauce was rich and piquant. We finished our meal with molten chocolate cake with homemade vanilla bean ice cream, and coffee of locally roasted bean

I went to Salty’s tonight. Never been before. Wife had the the Salmon with stuffed crab. She was not to enthuised. I had the Lobster. Fantastic! We were starving when we arrived. No bread for us. After we were served my wife noticed that all the other patrons were served bread. Not to be nitpicky here but when you spend 300.00 bucks on dinner and wine for two. I want my bread. With reservations for over a week we were sitted in one of the worst spots. Next to the fireplace closest to the staircase on a slow night. Listen. If your dead, give us a better table. I’m not a rich guy so when I go out to take my wife out for something special I want it to be nice. Very disappointed with Salty’s staff. The waiter asked my wife if she wanted a drink at the beginning and she was still trying to figure out what she wanted. I wanted a drink right then but waiter walked away. Overall I think my food was good. My wife thought it was okay and after spending 300 bucks I feel like a shmuck for not

Wow – a wine bar without attitude and that has a beautiful view, good food and a great selection of wines. Albeit they focus on Pacific Northwest wines, not something I usually gravitate toward – but their selection is delicious and the staff knows how to point you to what you will like. For the adventirous – they also have…

The first thing i must say is: you CANNOT come here expecting good service. You will sometimes get good service here, and some of the servers here are actually quite nice, but sometimes i have gotten the worst service in my LIFE here. Despite that being said, i will still come back on occasion. Why? The deserts are awesome and unique, the Nutella Banana Crepe and Bernadette’s Brownie Boat being exceptional examples. This place has super quirky awesome weirdo bohemian ambiance, think mismatched tiny chairs and tables, bizarre kitschy outsider art, and a staircase shrine. Its set in a lovely old converted Victorian house that has been painted all sorts of crazy colors on the outside. During the warmer months they have lovely outdoor seating in a back yard encircled and hidden from the street by bamboo plants and the sound of a trickling fountain. They have an excellent variety of drinks both alcoholic and non. The only other negative thing (other than the service) is that i hav
