Where is the Best Over-30 Singles Scene in Houston, Texas?

A fun place to go to dance both country and a bit of non-country. Early drink specials and cover charges. Wednesday is the drink special night and probably the best night out there, but Saturdays are fun, too. The biggest con is that it is still a smoking inside establishment, and it does get smoky. With the smoke cloud, I find it better to make the drive into Houston on a weekend to do a little dancing. I enjoy the night better, dance more, smell better, and the guys smell so much better, and I feel better in the morning without that smoke. It’ll be a great place for the weekends when they make the inside smoke free or find a way to really s uck out all that smoke.Pros + Fun dancing both country and non-countryCons – Smoke filled

If you are looking for a place to call your own, then Roeders Pub is your answer. The drink selections are vast – be it a martini that tickles your fancy, a cool mixed drink, a pint of your favorite ale or even a chilled shot of Tuaca or Jagermeister. The bartenders are some of the best I have come across – great at what they do and make you feel right at home. Many a time I have seen a person who has only been in once before be surprised that the bartender remembered what their drink prefence is. If there is an import beer or special liquor you fancy but they don’t carry, let them know and Ben and Sandy Roeder will try and take care of you the next time. I have seen previous reviews say that there are a lot of regulars that frequent the bar almost as if that is a bad thing – kind of tells you something about the staff and owners, I think. BIG Houston sports fans, especially Astros. For the smoking sports fan bummed about the smoking ban, you can still enjoy the game, your drink and

I get mixed feelings about this place because it looks SOOO nice on the inside and there hasn’t been a cover the two Saturdays I went. However, the bouncers try to do that “New York sh*t” with the whole “try to create a line outside by simply not letting people in” thing. For example… I, along with 5 friends approached the door at about 10:30 on a Saturday. No one else was in line, or even on the same block. The (short skinny dude with weird hair who shouldn’t even be allowed to be called a) bouncer asked us if we were “on anyone’s list.” After I said no, he told me we would have to wait for a second, because he needed to give priority to the people who were on the list. We looked around… Still no one nearby. I waited for maybe 45 seconds, then was given the obligatory “just give me a second. I’ll take care of you guys in just a second” stuff. Another friend asked who was throwing the party, and the guy gave the same answer. Real cute, guys. This is Houston. NYC gets a

This review is mostly for their Thursday night salsa night. Ok let me disclaim my review by saying I am a hardcore salsa dancer. Going to Sky Bar every Thursday is like going to church every week for…

We love this place. Great food – try the curries on Wednesday evenings, a choice from 7 curries and a pint for $16.Every week night finds some special, Steak, Burger, Curry, Meatballs, Fish & Chips, and all top notch food. The beers’s a tiny bit pricey – although you can always drink “lite” beer for next to nothing. Loads of choice, real British Ale and a British Boozer atmosphere to match. The star of the show is George, the surfer barman, if you’re lucky enough to get in while he’s working, he’s incredibly knowledgeable about what’s going on in Houston and elsewhere, and will always point you inthe right direction about what’s on the menu, and more importantly, what’s off the menu – there’s always loads of stuff not listed.Just try it.Pros + Great Food, great beer, and the surfer barman – fantasticCons – A tiny bit pricey but hey, it’s worth it.
