Like some of the other reviewers, I grew up eating Maria’s Pizza. It was something we looked forward to and one of the few takeout dinners my hard working parents could afford to feed a large family. 40 years later, my teenagers adore Maria’s Pizza. It’s still the best pizza I’ve ever eaten, including the pies I’ve tasted in Chicago and New York City. We prefer to call in our order, but the kitschy, funky, light-up-your-life, religious decor inside is classic. The only real negative to Maria’s is that the pizza is so amazingly good, that the wait times, especially on the weekends are sometimes several hours, so call early. There is no parking lot, but plenty of street parking, on Forest Home Ave. and side streets, is readily available. Maria’s Pizza is unlike any other pizza I’ve ever eaten….paper thin crust that one can wrap up like a soft taco and eat, very little sauce (but somehow the amount is perfect for this pizza), and huge chunks of tasty Italian sausage. It’s very easy to tell the other reviewer has no idea what pizza is. I now live in Atlanta, Ga and cannot find anyone who offers such great italian sausage on their pizza. I visit Martys each time I visit Wisconsin. Marty has the best sausage I have ever had on pizza, and the pizza does taste good the next day. Just make sure to put it in the oven. All of marty’s products they use are of the highest quality, and thats probably while it takes a while for it to be delivered to the table. They bake their own crusts, and don’t use store bought cheap sauce. It would be nice if they could sell their sausage, but they cannot, as they don’t have a deli licenses.Pros + Great sausage, Top Quality, Freshly MadeCons – , Hours

Nice ambience and good downtown location, decent sized bar, off-street parking (while it lasts) are the good points of this restaurant. But in the end it is still an average Italian chain restaurant. Two occasions left me with a bad taste in my mouth, the last being a nasty assistant manager, the first being the exclusion of salad dressing from a $$$$$ enormous catering order. Usually when management is not up to par, the service of the whole staff reflects it. I always felt like the staff was doing me a favor, which is a turn off. But it seems to be a popular place and as such, I was invited many times to large gatherings of friends at this restaurant. Based on my experiences I would not choose this restaurant. My S.O. and I spend a lot of time and money traveling and dining out here and elsewhere. As a frequent business traveler I also dine in many cities, mostly at upscale establishments, occasionally at chain restaurants… I’m experienced at dining out. If you like the cha
