When reserving, (from out of state, over a month’s advance), I CLEARLY STATED, SEVERAL TIMES, that this would be my parent’s 50th anniversary dinner. He said he wrote it down. They didn’t wish my parents Happy Anniversary!?! Our waiter DID remember to wish Happy Birthday to the woman at the next table. Maybe they got his attention with their pink boas. Maybe the gifts on our table, wrapped in silver & gold paper, being opened by 70-ish folks, me wearing a tux with gold tie, and ADVANCE NOTICE THAT THIS WOULD BE A 50TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER…AS IN ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME SPECIAL OCCASION wasn’t obvious enough. I don’t think that common courtesy needs requesting. The server AND hostess dropped the ball on this detail. If acknowledged like ” On behalf of all of us at Varalli’s, congratulations on your 50th Anniversary”, I’d be TOTALLY raving about our experience. Pros + Food , Service, AmbienceCons – Attention to details.

I knew that Valley Green Inn was a charming historical building in a beautiful natural setting. But I had no idea the food was so good! Three friends and I went there, and we were all delighted with the food and the service. I started with an apple-pear salad–thin strips of apples and pears, chopped apricots, cranberries and lovely fresh greens tossed with a nice vinaigrette dressing. Then I had the blackened catfish which was delicious–creative both in taste and presentation. A bed of collard greens (yummy) was topped with two triangles of macaroni and cheese “fritters” (interesting and tasty) and then two huge spicy and delicious catfish filets (one would have been plenty!). Big hunks of delicious fresh bread were on the table. My friends also had salads to start, and between us, we had all four of the fish entrees. We were all were delighted with our meals. Portions were large, bigger than they needed to be. Price for 4 salads, 4 entrees, 3 desserts, 1 bottle of wine and 4 coffee

I ate here after getting a $50 gift certificate for the place. We had to have a $100 food tab to use it. So we ordered a ton of food- we got tomato and mozzarella salad, bruschetta, gnocchi, pork tenderloin, filet, and chocolate cake for dessert. This added up to about $110. But then we had to have wine, and we were talked into a $60 bottle- we only planned on having a $30 one. So anyway, the food was really good, both the steak and the tenderloin were amazing. The only downside is that the price is kind of high, and the cheapest bottle of wine is $30. Service was great.Pros + Food good, ServiceCons – Price, expensive wine list
