Where is the Best Steak in Orange County, California?

I have been going to Capt Jacks since 1983. In my opinion, it is one of the landmarks that has stood the test of time. There is no place where I have eaten better King Crab. (I haven’t been to Alaska yet). Further, the other entrees they serve have always been great. It is the one place I know of where everyone can find something on the menu. From seafood to lamb chops, salad to bread, it covers all the needs. The setting is small, intimate and you will bump into folks… including servers… by accident of course. The place is bustling… especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s one of the restaurants atmosphere attributes in my opinion… have a good time with a bunch of folks. If you are claustrophobic, don’t go to Capt Jacks. If you don’t like sitting tightly around other folks while dining… don’t go to Capt. Jacks. If two people want the best king crab and teriyaki steak they have ever had and two glasses of wine each for less than $100 with tip… don’t go to Capt Jacks.

If you are Mr. or Mrs. steak snob and are used to ultra prime+++ cuts of Kobe beef @ $50 a plate, then this is NOT the place for you. HOWEVER, if you are John Q. Public and enjoy a very good steak at a reasonable price and a cold beer in a nice casual atmosphere, this is a great place to go!! The new york steak, black & blue steak (w/ blue cheese, YUM!), beef stroganoff, roasted garlic mashed are all VERY good. Herb crusted swordfish was good, but crusting over powers the swordfish. The bananas foster is a MUST for desert! I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other menu items.Overall, very casual atmosphere, nice menu variety, very good food, great presentation, reasonable prices and polite attentive service. Thumbs up!!!Pros + Casual atmosphere, good food/great steaks, reasonable pricesCons – Only open for dinner, late happy hour

All right, this is only the second Bubba Gump restaurant in which I have eaten [the other being at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN]. I was impressed by the staff in that they usually called me sir and not by a shortened form of my first name or by the ubiquitous moniker of “guy.” They were for the most part young and respectful. They were very attentive, especially with the “stop” sign on the table, which is quite ingenious, come to think of it. The food is great at wonderfully affordable prices. I loved the shrimp with pasta and capers. I asked for extra capers and they actually served me a true mound of capers! The drinks are strong and the beers are big. Just the right thing to go with a nice lunch or early dinner.Pros + Good solid food, great drinks, great staffCons – Can be extremely busy during dinner hours

This is a great romantic restaurant for an intimate night out with your special someone. The bone-in steaks at the Bungalow are the best- never over seasoned and always cooked to perfection. Always ask your waiter what he/she would recommend, or always try their specials- you cannot go wrong. The potatoes can be a bit overseasoned depending on the type, but you can always opt for a baked potato, which is a moist and delicious compliment to their steaks. The most romantic area would be the outdoor seating, which can be enjoyed year round due to heat lamps- make sure your request this when placing your reservation. This is the restaurant I go to for special nights, like my birthday. It is not the most expensive restaurant in Orange County (believe me, they get much more expensive), but it is the one that I always go to time and time again because it is the most romantic and intimate. My husband and I also came to the Bungalow to celebrate the night we got engaged. It is a special

Marvelous BBQ (chicken/pork/beef), generous portions, interesting side dishes (especially the peanut coleslaw!) and attentive, unobtrusive service. One of my hometown faves.
