Where is the Best Sushi in San Diego, California?

My husband and I decided last night, to take a nice walk and check out ‘Happy Sushi’ which is right in our neighborhood. We were very surpised…for a local sushi restaurant, it was good! We arrived right at 5p (they’re closed from 3-5p) and was seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly, the service was great and we received our sushi rolls with-in 10 minutes. Their ‘happy hour’ is every hour, which is buy 2 – get 1 free. The size of the sushi’s were pretty big and their draft beer was $2 a glass. I would highly recommend you go and give this place a try.Pros + Every hour is ‘happy hour’: Buy 2 rolls – get 1 freeCons – none

My husband and I stayed at the Hard Rock to catch a game at Petco and didn?t originally plan to eat at Nobu as there are so many restaurants in the Gaslamp. At the last minute I decided to give it a try since we?re not in town that often and I had heard good things about the menu. Our dinner was probably one of the most amazing meals I have ever had! Our waiter, Christian, was very nice, just attentive enough, and helped us navigate the variety of choices on the menu. All his recommendations were spot on. We started with Edamame and Baby Corn, which was very interesting (I?ve never eaten husk before!). Nobu?s famous Black Cod with Miso was a generously sized filet infused with salty sweet flavors. Every bite is to be savored. The Rock Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce is served on a bed of baby greens in a large bowl. The portions were bigger than we expected so we had to stop short of trying the delicate looking Sashimi (the table next to us had at least 2 orders). We will defini

The portions aren’t all that great, and the cooks aren’t even Asian! It’s like a fast food version of sushi. The prices are a little high for what you get. I’d rather go to Harney’s in Oceanside for the same price, better atmosphere & food.Sushi Fix is also the most difficult place to find! Hidden behind an office building. We went searching for about 30 minutes tryin to find the place. It’s across the street from Albertson’s, behind Downey Savings Bank.Pros + noneCons – expensive, small portions, not authentic, bad location

While this is my first review, I am no stranger to sushi. I am Japanese American foodie and I have eaten sashimi and sushi for over 55 years. I have worked in a Japanese owned fish market, Sakanaya. We sold sashimi tuna and seabass daily. I go fishing for tuna out of San Diego every year and have eaten sashimi yellowfin tuna that I caught 20 minutes before. I know fresh fish when I see it and taste it. I have eaten in dozens of sushi bars in the US, mostly in southern California including Sushi Nozawa in the San Fernando Valley and Sushi Ota in San Diego. I have eaten sushi in Boston, Washington, Seattle, Portland, and Tokyo Japan. I have even enjoyed the almostly legendary “Boston Tuna”. (Bluefin tuna caught off the New England coast)I am telling you this but because I am going to tell you that Taka is one of the best I have ever had. Taka is second to none. I took my wife and son. My wife thought that the uni was best she has had in years, sweet and creamy, not strong or old. We

This bar is about a year or so old. It is definitly the class of all bars in PB. It’s only competition might be Johnny V on garnet. The restaurant is a great place to start off your evening, I recommend the free range chicken or swordfish. There is also a sushi bar which I have heard is great. The atmospehere is very modern and hip with sort of a downtown / south beach vibe. Be sure to dress to impress when coming here. Also on weekends and especially in the summer lines can take 3o minutes to an hour to get in. The outdoor patio is right on the beach and there is also an outdoor bar. Be sure to bring your credit when coming here, the drinks are priced similar to a downtown club.
