I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food is great, and so is the service. It looks like the service gets some bad reviews here, but I felt that the staff was awesome when challenged by a task that is clearly not part of their usual routine. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night, and had kind of an interesting request. On our way to the restaurant, we passed some kids who were throwing rocks at cars as they drove by. One got our car, and left a HUGE dent. We decided to call the police, since they were throwing them hard enough to really do some damage. Of course, we didn’t know the non-emergency police number, so when we arrived at mirror, we asked for a table and the non-emergency police number. Yeah, we got funny looks but the hostess didn’t miss a beat. She suggested some numbers that she thought it was and found a phone book and looked it up to be sure. The staff really went above and beyond to accomodate our unusual request and didn’t quit until the police were called and I w

The appetizers (crab cakes and bruschetta) were outstanding. The entrees were nothing special. The shrimp gnocchi was better than the duck I ordered. Worst part: my mashed potatoes were ice box cold. They tried to warm it up, but the interior was still chilly. In short: nice wine list, and good atmosphere for the easily-impressed. However, people who are serious about fine and progressive dining won’t be so easily swayed. The menu itself (as in the words) are just trying too hard to sound fancy. But, it’s a nice place for the unsophisticated who will be impressed by the descriptions, prices, and plating.Another word of caution: part of the dining area is adjacent to the bar, which is smoky.Tin Angel is more inventive, Cheesecake Factory is more diverse, and Melting Pot is more romantic. All three offer a better dining experience for a slightly lower price point.Pros + Trendy, ServiceCons – Overpriced

don’t get me wrong, I like Mafiaoza’s, but it really isn’t because of the pizza. Tuesday two for one is pretty enticing. But it is hard to get excited about the pizza. two things that make great pizza to me are the crust and sauce. mafiaoza’s has great crust, but the sauce really lacks, the last couple of pizza’s I got barely had any at all. A friend ordered the buschetta and it came as a big loaf of bread with the tomatoes just poured over the top. Not really appetizing. For happy hour go to Mafiaoza’s, but for Pizza go to Angelos Picnic Pizza.

We enjoyed some good to great food at Mambu recently. The drinks, however, are not good. We ordered some margaritas and mojitos. The margarita tastes like it comes from a bottle of bad sour mix, the mojitos are the worst I have ever tasted (imagine liquid spearmint gum). We went a backup bottle of wine – too bad it was served at about 85 degrees (note to owner/bar manager: you need to chill white wine and slightly chill red wine to about 55-60 degrees). It’s too bad that you cannot get a great meal and a great drink at Mambu, hopefully they will read this and make it an even better experience!Pros + Food, service, venueCons – Drinks, Drinks, Drinks… Wow.
