I mean a good Veggie Burger. They are next to Gower Studios so it’s very pleasant to sit outside and have a fast food burger just like ever…

I was in Silver Lake in business and the wheather got bad, so I went into Cru for a coffee. Have you ever had healthy coffee? It tastes just as good or better than a great cup of regular coffee. I asked for a tasty suggestion and the chef said I should try their chocolate cake. I’m not a vegan so I hesitated, but after a brief description of how it’s made and how good it is for you, I figured I might as well satisfy my craving and not feel guilty about breaking my New Year’s resolution. When she brought it to the table accompanied by a delicious scoop of chocolate ice cream, it smelled and looked sooo delicious! It tasted even better! and healthy for me as well?! SoI decided to become a dessert-vegan. I can eat delicious cake and chocolate ice cream and feel great! THIS IS A MUST TRY IF YOU’RE EVER IN SILVER LAKE!!!Pros + DESSERTCons – not having time to try other dishes, but will go back for more!!!!

Much to my dismay, Hugo’s retired the special Vegetarian Menu that they used to hand out as a supplement to their main menu. The good news is that they will still recreate most of their tasty vegan/vegetarian dishes upon request. I definitely recommend asking for the “eggs blackstone” (love that sauce!) made vegan. It’s just a simple matter of substituting tofu for the eggs and veggie canadian bacon for the real thing. The restaurant still has all of their vegan ingredients, so don’t be afraid to ask for substitutions. And they still offer a super yummy vegan soup daily! This is a great place to bring your omnivore friends and have options for everyone. Plus it has a cute patio and usually offers a nice selection of organic wines.

Chickens needn’t run for cover in the vicinity of Native Foods, a quick-service vegan restaurant that can turn even a carnivore’s head. While the Westwood eatery is famous among UCLA students for its sweet potato fries, the Ensalada Azteca with fresh avocado, cucumber and jicama salsa, quinoa, romaine, currants, toasted pumpkin seeds, cilantro, and mango lime vinaigrette ($9.95), is what keeps me coming back. With the addition of blackened tempeh, this hearty salad could easily go head to head with a medium rare rib-eye. Or, at the very least, convince a meat-lovin’ gal to give her steak knife a break. Pros + Healthy, fresh ingredients, innovative menuCons – Poor parking
