I love the food and drinks at Literati, and I live close by so I always order take-out from them. EVERY SINGLE TIME I have ordered it, though, they have messed up my order. The first time they gave me the wrong order. The next time they left out my side salad. Then they were out of shrimp, but didn’t tell me when I ordered the shrimp linguine on the phone, and when I came to get it they said, “Umm…is it ok if we put chicken in your linguine instead?”The next time I ordered shrimp linguine, it was smothered with cheese when I got it. I hate cheese. The menu didn’t say there was cheese, it had never come with cheese before, but that day someone covered it in cheese. They left out the bread a few times, too.So I probably sound dumb for continuing to go back for more, but the food really is good. Just make sure you check your takeout orders before you take them home, because chances are something will be wrong.Pros + good menu, lots of choices, nice cafe ambienceCons – horri

My boyfriend brought me here for a little “getaway” one weekend. We went for their brunch and I must say brunch was a great experience. Except for the bugs, which i know kinda comes with the package. There were a lot of bees. It didn’t seem to be bothering other diners but I seemed to be drawing every bee from the restaurant to my plate. not to me, but my plate of food. Being allergic, i realized probably not the best idea for me.A few months later we took my mom and sister here for a dinner, thinking that once the sun went down it would be better. Same situation, bees, lots of them, this time on all of our plates. The waiter brought out a dish of ground cloves and swore up and down that it would drive the bees away and proceeded to scatter clove powder all over the table. He also told us we were making too big of a deal of it and to ignore them and they would go away. Hard to ignore a bee thats planted itself on your 15 dollar salad making it impossible to eat.We asked if

I eat at Leonor’s pretty regularly. It’s good quality and healthy vegetarian food. I don’t find it to be the most flavorful dishes, but they are still good, and unique. I believe they choose healthy ingredients over perhaps more flavorful ones.If you are expecting good service from the waitress, you might be disappointed. All the times I’ve been here, I have to flag the waitress down if I want anything. But if that doesn’t bother you like it doesn’t me, then you’ll enjoy yourself.By the way, I nearly make myself sick drinking so much of their flax-seed tea, it’s the best thing ever!=)Pros + Great vegetarian food, healthy.Cons – Poor service

Here are my views on “Mediterranean” food. Prepare to be astounded.I enjoy Mediterranean food immensely. I just don’t see how one place is any different than the other. The Kabob Express is just like the Falafel Emporium which is just like the House of Hummus.Rarely do I see a fluctuation in a menu. Perhaps the shwarma at one place is a bit juicier, or the falafel might be a bit drier but they all seem to have the same recipes and the same dishes. They are all quite uniform and there doesn’t seem to be such a thing as Mediterranean Fusion.Which I’m totally fine with. I love all that stuff, and when I crave it, I don’t want to wonder what I’m getting.Which brings me to Gaby’s, located on a nondescript section of Venice blvd…actually .isn’t all of Venice blvd nondescript??I just deleted a whole paragraph of boring description of the place. Who cares? The food is good, you’re not coming here for the ambience.I ordered the Vegetarian special, I got a little hummus, baba ghanou

That was one damn good turkey burger. So good I couldn’t stop thinking about it and must write right now. Finally made it over there today, for lunch. “Spiked Turkey Burger”: organic turkey mixed with green olives, jalapeno, red (bell) peppers. Tomato, onion, house made pickles, organic cheddar or swiss. $14.It was good.Coleslaw was good too. My friend had the regular burger, and proclaimed it was excellent, w/ the fries. $16. We eyeballed the fries with Himalayan salt under the Sides, and asked if that’s what comes with the burger. Waiter said yes. But I don’t believe him, the side of fries tasted like there was no seasoning at all. Some of the fries were overcooked. If they could make such a memorable turkey burger, I want to try their other dishes. Will be going back for sure. And big kudos for focus on local, organic ingredients. Slow food, that’s the answer.
